Ratification of chemicals and waste Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs)
UNITAR was established in 1965 to enhance the effectiveness of the UN through appropriate training and research. Its mission is to develop the individual, institutional, and organizational capacities of countries and other UN stakeholders through high-quality learning solutions and related knowledge products and services to enhance decision-making and support country-level action to overcome global challenges.
In this sense, UNITAR assists countries in the early implementation of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) such as the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm (BRS) conventions and the Minamata convention. Typical activities include: guidance and advice on identifying the implications and benefits of the ratification of MEAs, training materials and events, and orientation in the preparation of legislation and coordination structures.
On this website, you will find some valuable materials related to different aspects of the ratification of MEAs. They are presented in videos, links, or PowerPoint documents.
